Last minute road trip

I’ll be in the superbmx van.

Waking up early is amazing

I never realized how great it is to start your day super early. I woke up at 6:30 this morning and picked Max up at 7:30 to go riding and filming. We rode so many spots before most people even wake up. If I can convince everyone else to get up early with me, this could be the most productive riding summer yet.

Unfortunately our filming mission didn’t work out to well, but whatever, it was still a great day.

Here’s a photo Max took of me from one of the lines we filmed.

It’s about 11pm now and I’m off to bed to get up early. Today was a productive riding day, tomorrow will be a productive working day.

I’m back and feeling better then ever

The last 9 months haven’t been the greatest, to say the least. I broke my foot, healed, then broke my knee, healed again, then had to get surgery on the foot I originally broke. Everything is healed quite well now and I’m feeling great on my bike. I’m looking forward to riding every day this summer and filming for Ryan Hoey’s Summer Sundays 2 and Max’s Effin 4 video.

I leave you with this photo of a meat-log of a sandwich that I got from a deli and then promptly threw out. My gag-reflex kicks in every-time I look at it.

Clips from Summer Sundays

Ryan Hoey posted my section and the Austin roadtrip edit from his video up on vimeo. Here they are:

The thumbnail makes me look badass, but I’m really just drinking sparkling apple cider and eating strawberries :(. This is a compilation of clips from 05′-08′.

The trip was awesome, but unfortunately I sick pretty much every day and had no energy to ride. I drove hoey crazy from sneezing non stop all over his car.

If you’d like a copy of the full video (lot’s of trails riding), Ryan sells them for about $12. Go to his site and get in touch with him.

I Broke my Leg

I Broke my Leg -or- Mike Jonas Doesn’t Ride a Bike

Yep, just one injury after another. About a month ago I jammed my foot into the ground, after getting sketchy on a jump, and somehow ended up with a depressed fracture at the top of my tibia. That means the bone went inwards. And since the doctors were all jerks, It wasn’t diagnosed until about two weeks after it happened. As a result It’s to late fix it with surgery and now I have a permanent crevice at the top of my tibia.

The current doctor I’m seeing seems to think that It’ll heal okay and that it will be 100% when it heals. I’m still really worried about it though since If the depression in my tibia does turn out to be a problem, I’m told that there’s not many options for fixing it. So hopefully I don’t have issues with my femur slipping into my tibia depression or whatever.

Here’s an old clip of me from 2003 that I just came across. That snow jump took me like 20 hours to build, but it was totally worth it! I just wish more people could have ridden it with me.
